Happy Monday all! Just a short update from last week, and my usual preview of this week. I have been told I need a flashier title for this e-mail, but that was from a friend who got his Superintendent’s Certificate with me and hasn’t gotten a job yet, so I consider that input moot.
We had a sparsely attended board meeting last Monday, but that is OK. The board is about to do some heavy lifting in December and January when we take all of the results from the SWOT Analyses and we start peeling away the layers to determine our long-term vision and goals. Last week was a busy week for that work, as we went to the Middle School on Wednesday, and I took the School Board through that Friday. I must say that I have used this process often and the middle school staff was as engaged as any school or department I have ever facilitated, so nice work! During my meeting at WSU-TC Friday, I was surprised to find out that we have not had student teachers from WSU in quite some time. That came from them, so if anyone has a different recollection let me know.
This week we have a lot going on and I told my wife not to expect me for dinner much. I will be leaving for Seattle today after school, but hopefully many staff will come out for the first high school concert Monday night. I am not pleased to be gone, but I will be attending an Early Career Superintendent’s Academy on Tuesday in Seattle. It was limited to 35 participants, so I feel fortunate to have been chosen. There is Senior Night for football Friday, as well as the middle school concert on Thursday. I can’t make the flight back early enough to get to soccer or volleyball tomorrow, but any support would be appreciated. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you, and don’t hesitate to call me at ext. 2001 or my cell at 308-5052. Have a great rest of the week!
