    What is the GEAR UP Program? The Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Program is federally funded by the Department of Education. One Vision Partnership IV (OVP IV) is one of the GEAR UP programs that is administered by Washington State University Tri-Cities. OVP IV was approved in 2018 and is funded for seven years.
    What does the GEAR UP programs provide? GEAR UP provides FREE services and support to the Class of 2023 and 2024 students to prepare for and succeed in high school, higher education, and their future. Some of GEAR UP’S services here within the Kiona-Benton City School District include:
               • PSAT prep
               • parent outreach
               • college/ career/ resource fairs
               • academic advising
               • Summer Camps/Programs

    Our GEAR UP staff look forward to working with you and your student to help ensure success in high school and beyond. We encourage you to take advantage of the many opportunities for students and families through this grant, feel free to contact our GEAR UP staff anytime via email with any questions you may have. Also look for our GEAR UP newsletters, they will be posted monthly to our GEAR UP page located on our district's web page. These newsletters will be a great way to stay updated on everything GEAR UP related in our district.
     
    GEAR UP School Closure Update:
    If your student knows his or her's school email address and password please have them log in. Once they have successfully logged in please have them send our GEAR UP staff a quick email (staff emails posted below) with their first and last name. Once we recieve your student's email they will be signed up to recieve our monthly GEAR UP newsletter via email. 
    If your student does not know their school email and or password please feel free to contact either of our GEAR UP staff via email or phone, and we will gladly help get your child the information they need.
     
    GEAR UP staff will also be contacting students and/or parents over the closure to
    provide new GEAR UP updates on services and college planning information.
